Laser and Light Treatments in Rocky Mount

Choosing the Right Laser for Your Skin | Our Laser Aesthetic Services

At Amazing Grace Aesthetics, our mission is simple: To help every patient feel and look their best, inside and out. Whether that’s reducing the signs of aging, removing unwanted hair, or full skin rejuvenation, we’re here to help using advanced treatments.

With our laser and light treatments in Rocky Mount, we can reduce skin imperfections and other concerns you experience. Our team, including Dr. Richard Michal and Brigette Pridgen, uses laser aesthetics to meet the needs of our patients with safety and care. Let’s take a look at the devices available so you know which one can address your concerns most effectively.

Our laser treatments include:

What Are Laser and Light Treatments?

The diverse, advanced technology commonly found in modern laser and light devices allows providers to effectively address a wide variety of concerns. Laser treatments use beams of light at specified wavelengths to target areas within the skin, such as pigment, hair follicles, and collagen.

With different wavelengths come different intensities and modalities. At our practice, we have 3 laser and light treatments in Rocky Mount. Each device works to address the needs of our patients through its unique technology.

Here are quick descriptions of our laser skin rejuvenation devices and what you can expect with treatment.

Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing: Lutronic Ultra

We recommend our Lutronic Ultra non-ablative laser for patients seeking to reduce the signs of aging with little downtime.

Ablative vs Non-Ablative

Traditional ablative lasers use beams of energy to ablate, or remove, the epidermis, where many people commonly notice hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, fine lines, and texture. Non-ablative lasers offer skin rejuvenation without significantly harming the epidermis.

With non-ablative laser treatments, patients see improvements in skin texture and tone, with a shorter downtime since the epidermis remains intact.

How Lutronic Ultra Works

Dr. Michal, accompanied by our aesthetician, Brigette, uses the Lutronic Ultra device by Cynosure to stimulate your body’s natural healing process. This encourages the production of collagen and elastin, promoting youthful skin.

The device emits fractionated, non-ablative laser energy that creates microchannels across your skin. These microinjuries allow thermal energy to penetrate into the dermis, where it stimulates collagen and elastin production. Since the laser creates this gateway down to the dermis, your superficial skin remains unharmed.

Our providers can adjust the intensity and depth of treatment to your comfort level and unique needs. Our laser and light treatments in Rocky Mount using Lutronic Ultra are quick, comfortable, and require little downtime.

What Does Lutronic Ultra Treat?

Our non-ablative laser helps reduce the signs of aging and various skin concerns, including:

  • Melasma
  • Wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Actinic keratosis (excessive UV exposure)

Laser Hair Removal: Elite iQ

Our laser hair removal device combines 2 wavelengths to effectively reduce unwanted hair in any area of the body. Using Alexandrite and Nd:YAG wavelengths, Elite iQ targets the pigment in your hair follicles, destroying them with thermal energy.

We use the device’s FDA-approved technology, Skintel® Melanin Reader, to customize the treatment to your needs. The technology reads your skin’s melanin levels in real time, allowing for full personalization. With this advanced technology, we can safely and effectively reduce unwanted hair while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed, making it one of our most transformative laser and light treatments in Rocky Mount.

A provider uses laser and light treatments on a patient's leg to reduce unwanted hair.

What Are Alexandrite and Nd:YAG Wavelengths?

Alexandrite (755nm) wavelengths target pigment in your hair follicles while it’s in the growth phase. The pigment absorbs the light, converts it to heat, and effectively destroys the hair to prevent future growth.

Nd:YAG (1064 nm) wavelengths are longer pulses of light that deeply penetrate the skin to heat and destroy cells in the treatment area. Your pigment absorbs Nd:YAG and converts it to heat as well, destroying the hair follicle during treatment.

Important to Note
Traditionally, Alexandrite wavelengths have a high success rate of destroying unwanted hair for patients of lighter skin tones. Patients with darker skin tones have a higher concentration of melanin, which makes Alexandrite wavelengths harmful to their skin.

However, since Nd:YAG penetrates deeper and leaves superficial skin unharmed, this wavelength is effective for patients of darker skin tones.

How Elite iQ Works

As one of our most advanced laser and light treatments in Rocky Mount, Elite iQ uses the Skintel® Melanin Reader, which measures your skin’s melanin levels in real time. It informs Dr. Michal and Brigette of how they can alter the treatment settings for your needs. This technology allows us to blend Alexandrite and Nd:YAG wavelengths—or use them separately—so we can treat patients of all skin tones safely.

As your provider glides the laser over the desired treatment area, the wavelengths gently heat and destroy hair follicles. After completing the necessary number of sessions, patients notice long-lasting, smooth, hair-free skin.

Laser Vein Removal: Elite iQ

Aside from laser hair removal, our team uses Elite iQ to reduce the appearance of spider veins, broken capillaries, and varicose veins. When we use Elite iQ for laser vein removal, we only utilize the Nd:YAG wavelength to target blood vessels under the skin. The light energy heats blood vessels, causing them to collapse. Your body then naturally reabsorbs the collapsed vessels, reducing their appearance.

What Does Elite iQ Treat?

Utilizing the power of Alexandrite and Nd:YAG wavelengths, we can treat the following with Elite iQ:

  • Unwanted dark and light hair
  • Spider veins
  • Varicose veins

CO2 Laser Skin Rejuvenation: Pixel CO2

For patients seeking more intense skin rejuvenation results and expect some downtime, we recommend our Pixel CO2 laser. This laser uses carbon dioxide and laser technology to ablate the skin’s surface, stimulating your body’s natural healing response and encouraging healthier skin.

What Does a CO2 Laser Do?

CO2 laser resurfacing uses carbon dioxide to ablate the skin through vaporization. The laser delivers a beam of infrared light to remove layers of the skin, which provides rejuvenating effects. Since the laser removes the epidermis, many people see a significant reduction in wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, scarring, and texture.

How Pixel CO2 Works

Pixel CO2 is an ablative fractional laser, meaning it vaporizes the target area’s skin cells and stimulates new collagen production for healthier skin.

As Dr. Michal glides the Pixel CO2 laser over your skin, it creates microscopic “pixels” of thermal damage but leaves the surface tissue intact. This procedure requires a longer downtime than our non-ablative laser resurfacing, but not as long as a fully ablative treatment. With Pixel CO2, patients see more dramatic results as healthier skin replaces old, damaged skin.

What Does Pixel CO2 Treat?

Since Pixel CO2 stimulates healing through controlled injury, it can address mild to severe skin concerns, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne and acne scarring
  • Sun damage and hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Loose skin
